Stóri Hólmur is a beautiful, rusty, old farm on Reykjanes Peninsula. The abandoned buildings are a haunting reminder of a bygone era. The farmhouse stands alone, close to a rocky shoreline. Its creaking doors and broken windows tell the story of a once-thriving farm that has long since been forgotten. Far away in the background you see a glimpse of Reykjavík, the capital, and a mountain range in distance. The buildings are literally the center of a golf course and were used as a clubhouse before a new and more modern house was built within few hundred meters away. Despite its location and dilapidated state, it still gives a great feeling of time past and aloneness with its rustic beauty.
