The road to Snæfellsjökull glacier winds its way through some of Iceland’s most awe-inspiring landscapes. It is 14 km long and takes you closer to the glacier’s base, where the landscape transforms into a stark and otherworldly expanse of snow and ice. The road meanders through rolling hills, along the Fossá River with tumbling rapids, and through a desolate landscape. It gradually ascends towards the glacier, offering glimpses of Snæfellsjökull’s iconic icy peak along the way. According to Jules Verne, the renowned French author, Snæfellsjökull is the entrance to the centre of the earth. .
