Siglufjörður is a small fishing town in a narrow fjord by the same name on the northern coast of Iceland. With 1300 inhabitants, the town is an active fishing community and has endless opportunities for outdoor activities. The ski resort lies at the edge of the town and locals are adept at cross-country skiing. The town is very beautiful, with colourful houses, museums and a very large harbour area with interesting viewpoints and scenery. Tall mountains tower all around the fjord, giving it a distinctive character and adding beauty to this active town. In 2010, a tunnel was built over to the town of Ólafsfjörður, making this location easier to reach from Akureyri and the whole area more accessible.
