Seljalandsfoss is a stunning waterfall and a very popular filming location in Iceland. It is also one of the most visited natural attractions in Iceland and attracts thousands of tourists every year. The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery, and you can walk behind it to experience its beauty and get fabulous shots up close. The waterfall is also one of Iceland’s highest waterfalls with a height of 60 meters. This location is very picturesque and many possibilities available for the perfect shot.

Basecamp and facilities

The area has a big parking lot and basic toilet facilities for visitors, perfect for big basecamps. There is a restaurant and a popular camp site at this location. Phone coverage is excellent.

Risk factors

Constant mist and spray from the waterfall can cause slippery surfaces by the waterfall itself and behind it. The river has strong currents so swimming or diving next to waterfall should be done and planned with professionals.

Visitors

The area is very popular with tourists but can be managed with PAs or park rangers. Seljalandsfoss is also a very popular campsite where people stay with their tents for few days.
