Melrakkaslétta is rougly 108 ha in size so a lot depends on where you film. There are numerous farms around the coastline, gravel lots or fields that could be used for bigger basecamps. There are two villages in the area, Kópasker and Raufarhöfn, with basic services and hotels. Phone coverage varies from excellent to average.
