Langárfoss is a small roadside waterfall where the main road crosses Langá River just outside the town of Borgarnes. The waterfall sits in peaceful surroundings of lush greenery and sharp zigzags in the bedrock. Though small by waterfall standards, Langárfoss drops 3 meters through protrusion of volcanic rock, splitting into several channels on the way. During winter months, the river freezes and stacks of icebergs fill the lake below and above the waterfall, giving us a mesmerizing scene.

The area around the waterfall is wet and slippery. The rocks are sharp and prone to sliding. The ice that forms on the lake during winter months is not thick enough to carry a person or equipment.
