The pseudocraters in Landbrotshólar are a unique geological formation, located just outside the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. These craters, also known as rootless cones, were formed by steam explosions when lava flowed over the wetlands and caused the water to rapidly boil and expand, resulting in a gorgeous otherworldly landscape, truly picturesque and unique. This pseudocrater field spans over 50 square kilometres, with mossy grown craters, 10 to 30 meters in diameter and scattered around the area.
