Only a short trip from Reykjavík lies a great location for various shoots. This location has a big, beautiful lake surrounded by lava, graphic rock formations and a two-lane road that is in sync with the location. The lake has little black beaches, green grass areas and coves that could be private for a shoot. The main lake, Kleifarvatn, is 8 square kilometres and 100 meters deep.
Krýsuvík is a very convenient filming locations for its various looks. Lava, lake, rock formations, geothermal area, coves and a beautiful road that is in great harmony with the surroundings. Easy access from the road to all major sites. However, if you would like to film from the east of the lake, you would need to carry equipment there as there is no road leads to that site of the lake. Basecamp and facilities

This location offers many possibilities for basecamps, tech bases and easy access for equipment. There are minimal or no facilities at location so everything needs to be brought in: toilets, holding area and general basecamps. Phone coverage is not great and there are coves and areas where signals are bad.

Risk factors

The lake comes from a lukewarm source, which means that it is always at 3°C, so swimming, diving or other activities would need to be planned and supervised by a safety team. The lake is also a popular fishing spot. This is a geothermal area so information from park rangers or local service company is required before choosing a place to shoot.

Visitors

The area is popular with tourists and locals but can be managed with PAs and park rangers.
