Dalsvaðall is a near circular headland in the beautiful deep fjord of Patreksfjörður. The headland extends resolutely into the fjord’s crystalline waters and is adorned with a light tan sand beach that stretches 3.2 kilometres along the coastline. Iceland is famous for its black beaches, but a few light tan sand beaches are located in the Westfjords. Along the cape lies the old Patreksfjörður airport, which was closed down in 2011. Dalsvaðall is a perfect image of a natural oasis on a perfect sunny day in the rugged, wild Westfjords.
